The Midland Cultural Centre (MCC), the premier entertainment facility and cultural hub in the heart of Georgian Bay, is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Broome as our new Executive Director, effective August 15th, 2021.

Returning to his hometown of Midland, Dan brings an extensive music, arts, and entertainment industries background to the MCC. In his role as Vice President of Operations & Administration for True North Records he supervised the rollout of national and international live music tours, the production of numerous music videos and the release of over 425 albums to the marketplace including multiple JUNO Award-winning and nominated recordings.

After the company was sold in 2007, he joined the Toronto Musicians’ Association as their Senior Business Representative handling labour relations and contract negotiations for the musicians of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, The National Ballet of Canada, Stratford Festival, and Mirvish Productions among others. While working in both of those positions Mr. Broome was also engaged as the Director of the Artist Management Program at private post-secondary school Harris Institute where he teaches multiple music Industry marketing courses.

Dan has also volunteered as board member for Toronto not-for-profit local arts service organization Scarborough Arts serving in the roles of Treasurer and Board Chair. He has also served on the board of the Jazz Performance Education Centre and was appointed by the City of Toronto to the Toronto Music Advisory Council. His skills and experience are broad, yet his focus has been on the music and larger arts community in Ontario and the Toronto area.

He is an engaged and highly knowledgeable leader, well poised to lead the MCC into years of future development and growth. “We are delighted that Dan Broome is our new Executive Director at the Midland Cultural Centre. As we look ahead to re-opening the facility, we are confident that Dan and his team at the MCC will continue to present the programming that our very loyal audiences have come to love, and that they will bring new and exciting live events to the MCC", John Hartman, Chair, MCC.

As the Midland Cultural Centre enters its second decade in operation, it is vital that it continue to grow its audience and ensure that it maintains its position as the central vibrant cultural hub of the community. This is a challenge that Dan is especially excited to take on: “The COVID-19 Pandemic has been difficult for all of us over the past 18 months and, on top of working to deliver on the Midland Cultural Centre's board mandated strategic objectives, it is my goal over the next year to see the MCC be a central player and component in the reopening of Midland and the surrounding area as we collectively emerge from the current crisis. Arts, art spaces, and live performances are focal points where communities gather. At this moment in time, the Midland Cultural Centre has a key role to play in reviving community spirits by re-engaging audiences with great live musical performances, events and presentations - acting as a catalyst for people to reconnect with each other.”
